I got on ÖBB ( not OBB, it's confusing!) at Wien Westbahnhof railway station in the early morning.
There was nobody in the car.
I felt a peaceful landscape.
After an hour trip, I arrived at Melk Bahnhof.
Suddenly, a marvelous and dignified architecture appeared in front of me.
Is it a castle or a cathedral? I'm coming near...
I entered a huge gate...
It is an abbey!
The abbey is called "Melk Abbey" founded in 1089 when Leopold II gave one of his castles to Benedictine monks.
The architecture is Baroque. Today's Baroque abbey was built between 1702 and 1736 designed by Jakob Prandtauer.
Melk Abbey was recently selected as the main motif of a 10 euro coin.
A cat! I'm sure the cat must be a member of friar because it is abbey here.
